Passport & ID photos

Compliant
backgrounds

Remove the background from any passport, visa, or ID photo and place it on the color your country requires — white, off-white, or light grey. Free, no signup. We help with the background; you handle dimensions per your government's rules.

— What this does

Inkurs removes the background from passport-style photos so you can replace it with the solid color required by your country's passport or visa authority. Most authorities require white, off-white, or light grey. The tool outputs a transparent PNG; you place it on the required color before submitting.

— Worth being clear about

We help with background only.

Background colour is one part of compliance. Dimensions, head positioning, expression, lighting, file size — all on you. Most rejections happen for other reasons. Read your country's full spec before submitting.

— Frequently asked

Common questions.

Will my photo pass the country's official passport spec?
Inkurs solves the background only. Dimensions, head positioning, expression, lighting, and file size are also part of compliance and remain your responsibility. Most authorities offer free photo validators — run yours through one before submitting.
Why not just take a photo against a white wall?
You can — if the wall is evenly lit. Most home walls have shadows and color casts that cause rejections. A removed-and-replaced background is uniform by design, which is what most spec validators expect.
Does it work with iPhone front camera selfies?
Yes — iPhone HEIC photos work directly. Selfies process correctly, though some passport specs require arm's-length minimum distance for facial proportions. Read the country-specific spec before deciding on selfie vs assisted photography.
Is inkurs really free with no signup?
Inkurs is free for single-image use with no account, no email, no watermark, and no daily limit. Pro at $3/month adds bulk uploads and API access. The single-image tool stays free, forever.
Do you store or train on my uploaded images?
Inkurs deletes both the uploaded file and the processed output from its servers within 60 seconds of your download. We do not train AI models on user images, share data with advertisers, or retain copies. Privacy policy →
What image formats and sizes does inkurs accept?
Inkurs accepts PNG, JPG, WEBP, HEIC, and BMP files up to 20MB on the free tier. Output is a transparent PNG by default; WEBP is also available. Pro extends the file size cap and adds 8K output.
How does inkurs compare to removebg and Photoroom?
Inkurs gives full HD output free with no signup, while removebg gates HD behind a paid account ($9.99/mo) and Photoroom requires signup for most features ($12.99/mo). Inkurs Pro is $3/month flat. Detailed comparison →
