01 / 01 / How it works

Three steps,
real signatures.

— 01

Sign on paper

Black ink on plain paper works best. Avoid lined notebook paper — the lines get picked up as marks. Use a sharpie or fine-tip pen for thicker strokes.

— 02

Photograph or scan

Phone photo in even light is fine — no need for a scanner. Avoid hard shadows across the page. Crop the photo close to the signature before upload for best edge detection.

— 03

Drop and get the PNG

Inkurs removes the paper background and returns the signature on transparent. Drop it into Docusign, Gmail signature, Photoshop, or wherever you need it.

Common signature
use cases.

— 01

Digital contracts

Drop your transparent signature onto a contract PDF in Preview, Adobe Acrobat, or Docusign. No need to print, sign, scan, send.

— 02

Email signatures

Add a hand-signed mark to your email signature block. Personal touch on professional correspondence, with transparency that works on any email theme.

— 03

Artist / designer marks

Use as a watermark or sign-off on portfolio pieces, prints, or merchandise. Transparency means it works on any background color.

— 04

Letterhead and templates

Add a real signature to letterhead PDFs, invoice templates, or brand identity files. Replaces the typewritten name with something personal.

— Frequently asked

Common questions.

What's the best paper and pen for the source photo?
Plain unlined white printer paper with dark ink (black ideal). A medium-tip or fine sharpie gives clean strokes that survive scaling. Avoid lined notebook paper — the rules get picked up as marks.
Is my transparent signature legally binding on contracts?
The image is a faithful reproduction of your signature. Whether it's legally binding depends on the jurisdiction and contract type — same rules as any scanned signature. Consult a lawyer for high-stakes contracts.
How small can the strokes be before the model misses them?
Anything visible to the human eye on a 4K phone photo will work. Very thin pen lines may look pixelated when scaled significantly above the source resolution; thicker strokes scale better. Use a fine sharpie for crispest results.
Is inkurs really free with no signup?
Inkurs is free for single-image use with no account, no email, no watermark, and no daily limit. Pro at $3/month adds bulk uploads and API access. The single-image tool stays free, forever.
Do you store or train on my uploaded images?
Inkurs deletes both the uploaded file and the processed output from its servers within 60 seconds of your download. We do not train AI models on user images, share data with advertisers, or retain copies. Privacy policy →
What image formats and sizes does inkurs accept?
Inkurs accepts PNG, JPG, WEBP, HEIC, and BMP files up to 20MB on the free tier. Output is a transparent PNG by default; WEBP is also available. Pro extends the file size cap and adds 8K output.
How does inkurs compare to removebg and Photoroom?
Inkurs gives full HD output free with no signup, while removebg gates HD behind a paid account ($9.99/mo) and Photoroom requires signup for most features ($12.99/mo). Inkurs Pro is $3/month flat. Detailed comparison →
